Trail Riding

Crooked Creek Horse Park is one of the most beautiful places to take your family, friends and horses in western Pennsylvania. There are approximately 35-40 miles of permanently marked trails. Two long loops consist of about 18 and 35miles and several smaller loops will take you and your horse on a glorious trail ride. You will encounter short hills, plenty of water crossings and a variety of footing along the way. Our trails are challenging for the experienced riders but not too difficult for the novice riders. Trail maps are available for your purchase in the office.

* TRAIL NEWS *

To All Trail Adoptees and Volunteers,

Now that the snow has melted (almost!) we're going to look forward to trotting into the 2010 trail season.  All trail adoptees please contact me to confirm your participation this season on the same trails you were responsible for year.

We still need a trail adoptee for the middle section of Manor Mineral, Tom Hick's adopted trail from last year.   This could be shared by two volunteers or a group would be nice.  This is an important part of our trail system for getting to the Donkey Farm, Strip Mine and upper section of Manor Mineral Loop.

There will be a meeting on Tuesday, April 13th after the general board meeting at the park.  We'll be discussing our goals for the 2010 season.  If you have any ideas or suggestions and can't attend the meeting, please let me know.

Last year was a good trail year (reopening Lollipop Loop) and I hope we can continue to maintain what we have and maybe get some old trails reopened, but as always, it requires some volunteers to make it happen.

Weather permitting, there will be a trail maintenance weekend on April 24 and 25th.  We'll start at the park, cleaning up the inside park trail, and working our way out to the Covered Bridge and the Boat Launch.  I work Saturdays but I'll be there Sunday.  If you know of any problems with your trail at this point, let me know so we can put it on the to-do list.

Again, thanks for all you help.  Our trail system could never be maintained as well without all of our volunteers.

Trail maps are available for your purchase in our Information Booth. This booth is located to the right of the Stop sign after entering the driveway to the park.   If this is your first time trail riding in the park, you should have a map along with a copy of the trail descriptions. You can print out the trail descriptions from this website—there is a link on this page to our "Trail Descriptions" section. Trail descriptions are also usually available in our Information Booth. Camping information is also located in our Information Booth. If you plan to camp, there are certain weekends where a larger show may be scheduled and you would need to contact the show manager for campsite and horse stall availability. The show manager's number can be found under the "Event Calendar" section of this website. Please also note there are no horse rentals or guided rides available at the park.
If you still have questions about our Trails, you can contact our Trail Boss, Wes Jackson, at 412-795-6178 or email jackson.bl@verizon.net
